(35) Horne/Jacobson House
This Folk Vernacular house located at 8198 King Street, was built in 1910 for Charles Ellsworth Horne Ph.D., first Dean of Westminster University. Adolph and Hilma Jacobson purchased the house in May 1923. The Jacobson family has owned this house for 80 years.

ARCHITECTURAL DESCRIPTION
The front-gabled, Folk style of this house was popular during the new railroad era (1880-1890) when people were no longer restricted to local building materials. Wood-framed houses with wooden siding became more common. Steep-pitched roofs and front porches were urban designs popular in that East, that were brought West by new settlers.
