Richard DeSpain built this Folk Vernacular style house located at 7740 Lowell Boulevard, in 1882. He resided here with his wife, Jennie and four children from 1882-1912.

ARCHITECTURAL DESCRIPTION
This Folk Vernacular style residence is a side-gabled, one -story, rectangular, wood-framed structure with a simple porch. Folk houses like these were common dwellings for the first settlers because of the simple, practical floor plan. After the railroad reached the West in the 1880s, lumber and glass window were readily available.
