(42) Union High School (National Register of Historic Places, 2000)

This two-story Modern blond brick building located at 3455 W. 72nd Avenue is now the Alternative Center for Education. It was built in 1929 and served as Westminster's first high school from 1929-1949.

ARCHITECTURAL DESCRIPTION
A Modern/Modernistic building usually has a box-like shape and the exterior is a blonde brick or stucco rather than the common red brick. The windows have symmetrical, rectangular shapes. Straight lines and right angles can be seen on all parts of the structure. Notice the stylized zigzag across the top and vertical brick forms that give the building a finished look. Decorative elements like these are found in the Art Deco style popular in the 1920s and early 1930s.
