(37) DeSpain House (Jeremiah)/McClellan
This Folk Vernacular farm house was located on the SE corner of 76th Avenue and Lowell Boulevard, which is now Torii Square Park . Martha Mutter, mother-in-law of Pleasant DeSpain Sr, homesteaded the land in 1870. The property was purchased later by the McClellan family.

ARCHITECTURAL DESCRIPTION
This house is an example of a side- gabled, two-story Folk Vernacular house. Folk houses like these were common dwellings for the first settlers because of the simple, practical, I-house subtype floor plan, which means one room deep. The window surrounds are simple and a front-gabled dormer was added for accent.
