(1.) Bowles House (National Register of Historic Places, 1989)
This Italianate Vernacular farmhouse located at 3924 W. 72nd Avenue has been a Museum since 1988. Edward Bruce Bowles began construction on the house in 1871 and completed it in 1876. Bowles resided here with his wife, Mahalia Elisabeth Longan and they raised nine children. The Bowles family owned the house until the 1940s.

ARCHITECTURAL DESCRIPTION
This red, sand brick house with matching mortar is an excellent example of common residential architecture in 1870s. The Italianate style (borrowed from Italy) features a low pitched, hipped roof and symmetrical box-like building. Curved stonework that surround the windows and doors complete the classic look.
