National Night Out

The City of Westminster will be joining forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the 27th annual National Night Out.  This year’s event is being held on: Tuesday August 3rd, 2010 from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

National Night Out is a celebration in which citizen’s, police and fire personnel, business, and community leaders come together to communicate with each other and to unite against crime.  Neighbors gather for ice creams socials, backyard BBQ’s, and potluck dinners in their area.  This community crime prevention program is intended to:

• Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
• Bring neighbors together and strengthen neighborhood spirit
• Make neighborhoods safer
• Generate support for local anti-crime programs
• Promote positive public safety-community partnerships

Westminster City Council, Police Officers and Fire Fighters will be visiting these gatherings to socialize and answer questions.

If you are interested in organizing a neighborhood block party in conjunction with this year’s National Night Out, please contact Investigator Cheri Spottke cspottke@cityofwestminster.us or by calling 303-658-4421.
