McKay Creek Trail
This 0.6-mile trail will eventually connect McKay Lake to Big Dry Creek via a future I-25 underpass at approximately 140th Avenue. For now the trail extends about one-half mile from Pecos Street to Huron Street through the Huntington Trails residential subdivision now under construction. Park on Huntington Trails Parkway (Pecos Street) just south of 144th Avenue. The concrete sidewalk on the west side of the road extends south, where the trail intersects on the right. Go right onto the 10-foot-wide concrete path that goes through city open space and then a homeowner association-owned greenbelt before crossing back over Huntington Trails Parkway.
The trail winds along the McKay Creek drainage way and crosses a north-south internal subdivision trail. The main trail crosses under 142nd Avenue and Huron Street via newly built pedestrian/bike underpasses, where the trail temporarily ends.
