Legacy Ridge named Habitat Hero garden

(Dec 18, 2013)

The Legacy Ridge Golf Course has been named a Habitat Hero garden.

The golf course was specifically recognized for offering an outstanding example of restoring habitat crucial to the survival of songbirds and pollinators, and for meeting five specific criteria:

  • provides layers, shelter and nesting opportunities;
  • offers natural food sources (emphasizing native and regionally adapted plants);
  • provides fresh water for drinking and bathing;
  • is water-wise and energy-efficient; and
  • minimizes pesticide use and controls invasive species.

As a Habitat Hero, Legacy Ridge Golf Course will receive a one year membership in the National Audubon Society, a special Habitat Hero Birdwatchers preplanned garden designed and the opportunity to have the garden featured in a unique Habitat Hero garden tour next summer.
