Residents connect with mayor, council at outreach event

(Sep 16, 2013)

More than 35 residents on Sept. 11 attended a wide ranging discussion of city issues as part of the most recent Mayor/Council Dessert at Bradburn Village Clubhouse.

Topics ranged from progress on creating a new downtown on the site of the former Westminster Mall to getting the latest information on FasTracks and rail in the Northwest Corridor.

New downtown

This week the draft master plan for the site will be presented to the public for comment during a pair of open houses and online opportunities.

The open houses are planned for Wednesday, Sept. 18, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at The MAC and on Thursday, Sept. 19, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the City Park Recreation Center.

The public is also invited to participate in an online open house on WestyCOnnect from Sept. 18-25.

Following the public outreach, the draft plan will go to the Planning Commission and to City Council for action in October.

The Regional Transportation District has kicked off the Northwest Area Mobility Study, which will result in a prioritized list of mobility improvements for the northwest area.

More information about the study is available on the Northwest Area Mobility Study website, including meeting information and a form to submit comments on the study topics.

The 13-month study will determine mobility improvements to serve the northwest area.

The study focuses on five key areas, including commuter rail and bus rapids transit options for the corridor.

Sex offenders

The Westminster Police Department is participating with other law enforcement agencies to use a unified sex offender registry System known as SOTAR. This single website allows you to search for sex offenders registered with any of the participating agencies. State law defines which sex offenders can be listed on SOTAR. We are prohibited from posting juvenile offender information, along with some adults, including those convicted of one misdemeanor. Those who fail to register may also be listed on the site.

SOTAR (Sex Offender Tracking and Registration) web search.

More information on sex offenders is on the city website.
