Marion Barn recommended as a historic landmark
(Dec 06, 2012)
During their Dec. 4 meeting, the city’s Historic Landmark Board recommended that City Council designate the Marion barn and windmill, located at the southwest corner of 120th Avenue and Pecos, as local historic landmarks.
The City Council will review the local landmarks designation at a public hearing on Jan. 14.
The property is located on 18 acres of city-owned open space and is a remnant of the original 1880s Marion homestead.
The barn and adjacent windmill were moved to the acreage in 1998 and the barn was rehabilitated. The barn and acreage are leased for pasturing horses.
