Metzger Farm Open Space open to the public
(Nov 15, 2012)
Over 200 people braved the chilly weather and snow on Saturday, Nov. 10, to celebrate the opening of the Metzger Farm Open Space.
Both mayors and council members from Westminster and Broomfield joined citizens, staff and the Metzger Family to share in the history, and proudly introduce this long-awaited project to the public.
Metzger Farm is a beautiful, 152-acre open space property that borders Westminster and Broomfield on the northeast corner of Lowell Boulevard and 120th Avenue.
Through an intergovernmental agreement, the two cities formed the Broomfield-Westminster Open Space Foundation and purchased the property from the Metzger Family in 2006 with assistance from Adams County and Great Outdoors Colorado.
Recent improvements made to this property include two miles of new trails, a trailhead with parking, a fishing dock, wildlife viewing deck and bridge connection to the Big Cry Creek Trail.
Visit the city website to learn more about Metzger Farm, and plan an afternoon with the family to visit and enjoy this newest open space.
