City employees place well in National Snow Plow Roadeo
(Oct 04, 2012)
Congratulations to Department of Public Works and Utilities personnel JR Miller, Todd Anderson, Toby Meissner, Eddie Torgerson, Mike Cabral and Heath Dietz.
These snow plow/loader operators qualified on Sept. 19, at the city’s in-house competition to be eligible to compete at the annual American Public Works Association’s Western Snow and Ice Conference and National Snow Plow Roadeo, held in Estes Park, Colo. on Sept. 26-28.
The top four drivers from the in-house roadeo competed as teams, while the top two drivers from the loader competition competed individually, vying against teams from across the nation.
The national competition consists of a written test, equipment diagnostic testing, and maneuvering tandem and single axle snow plow trucks or loaders through a driving skill obstacle course.
Representing the city in the tandem axle competition was Meissner and Anderson with a first place showing. For the single axle competition, Torgerson and Dietz placed sixth, and for the loader competition, Miller placed 16th and Cabral placed 20th. Congratulations on a job well done.
