Metzger Farm recommended for listing on National Register of Historic Places
(Sep 27, 2012)
The State Review Board of the Colorado Historical Society voted unanimously on Friday, Sept. 21, in favor of listing Metzger Farm on the National Register of Historic Places.
Last month, Westminster's Historic Landmark Board, Open Space Advisory Board and the City Council issued letters of support for the nomination, which were forwarded to the state for its review.
Metzger Farm is located at the northeast corner of 120th Avenue and Lowell Boulevard in the City of Westminster and was acquired by the Broomfield-Westminster Open Space Foundation in 2006.
The farm, an intact complex including a farmhouse, caretakers’ house, barn, outbuildings, gardens, lakes, crop fields/pasture and equipment, is locally significant in the area of agriculture, law and politics/government, and architecture.
This nomination will be forwarded to the keeper of the register at the National Park Service in Washington, DC for final consideration for listing.
