Revisions approved to city code regarding accessory buildings

The Westminster City Council on Monday, Sept. 24, passed a bill by a vote of 4-3, to amend a section of the city code regarding accessory buildings.

Previously, the city code allowed one accessory building per building lot for all residential zoning districts unless further restricted on an official development plan.

The amended code will allow two accessory buildings per building lot in planned unit development (PUD) residential zoning districts, unless stated otherwise on an official development plan.

In non-PUD residential zoning districts, one detached garage shall be permitted in addition to two accessory buildings. The accessory building definition was also revised.
