The draft budget has been available to City Council and the public since Aug. 30, and remains available on the city’s website, in the City Clerk’s Office and at both city libraries.
Public meetings regarding the 2013/2014 budget were held on June 11 and July 23 to receive citizen input; a final public hearing was held on Sept. 10.
City Council provided direction to staff to finalize the two-year budget for official consideration at the Oct. 8 City Council meeting.
Included in the proposed budget are rate increases associated with the utility system to support system maintenance, repair and reinvestment: 1) a 4 percent water and wastewater rate increase for 2013 and 2014 and 2) an increase to the stormwater drainage utility fee from the current rate of $3/month to $4/month in 2014, $5/month in 2015 and $6/month in 2016.
