Home fireworks banned this year
(Jun 28, 2012)
All private fireworks have been banned by the State of Colorado this year because of high fire danger. Though Westminster residents have been allowed to use non-explosive fireworks for a limited time around July 4 in the past, this year they cannot because of the statewide ban.
UPDATE June 27: The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office has canceled all commercial fireworks shows this year, including the show planned in Westminster. Learn more here.
Open burning is always prohibited in Westminster. Recreational fires such as fire pits and chimineas are still allowed, but the fire department urges you to use caution. Park rules must be followed if you use open flames (grilling, campfires) in a Westminster public park.
Please refrain from using any fireworks this year!
To report fireworks use, call the non-emergency fire/police number, 303-658-4360.
