City approves open space purchase
(Feb 16, 2012)
At the Feb. 13 City Council meeting, approximately 31.87-acres at the Bonnie Stewart property, 8390 W.108th Ave., was authorized for purchase.
In addition to providing open space for the residents in this area, acquiring the parcel may also allow the city to look into the possibility of developing a portion of this property as a community park at some point in the future.
It will provide a critical link for future trails that will serve passive recreational and commuting purposes.
This acquisition supports the city’s Strategic Plan Goals of “Financially Sustainable City Government” and “Beautiful City” by increasing revenues that support defined city projects and by providing the city with increased open space and trails.
