New open space rehabilitation project underway
(Feb 02, 2012)
The city acquired the “Savery Savory Mushroom Farm” property at 109th Avenue and Federal Boulevard in 2010.
This property is now permanently preserved as city open space along with Mushroom Pond just to the east.
Since the Savery site was once a working mushroom-growing farm and full of concrete, there’s a lot of work to do before it will really look like the city’s other vibrant natural open spaces. However, thanks to another substantial grant from Adams County Open Space, the rehabilitation project is about to take shape!
In the coming months, expect to see construction of pedestrian trails and a small trailhead parking area, along with substantial earthwork to reshape an existing soil stockpile.
This project is expected to be completed in early summer 2012.
