Use caution with tree limb removal
(Nov 03, 2011)
Westminster Fire Department recently responded to an emergency call involving an individual that fell to his death after climbing a large cottonwood tree to remove damaged limbs from the recent snowstorm. Sadly, the climber was not wearing a harness.
This tragic situation is a very real reminder to all of us; it is important to use proper safety procedures while performing tree limb removal.
Harnesses to prevent falling, proper equipment to do the removal, eye protection, proper use of chain saws and a good dose of caution are all necessary.
If you do not have the proper safety equipment or the skills needed, consider hiring a professional; the expense is well worth avoiding serious injury or death.
