Change your clock, change your batteries
(Nov 03, 2011)
October was Fire Prevention Month and the Westminster Fire Department visited schools as well as promoted fire safety at numerous community events.
However, fire and life safety is a year-round job for the Westminster Fire Department. If you didn’t visit with firefighters last month, there is still time to learn about the 2011 fire prevention theme “Protect Your Family from Fire.”
Here are four basic steps to increase your fire safety:
- Install smoke alarms on every level of your home.
- Test smoke alarms once a month.
- Make and practice a home fire escape plan.
- Change smoke alarm batteries when you change your clocks.
On Sunday, Nov. 6 it’s time to “fall back” and change your clocks.
This is a GREAT time to test all the fire alarms in your home and also change the batteries.
Westminster Fire Department offers a wide variety of fire and life safety programs for all ages - fire safety, fire extinguisher training, CPR and first aid, child seat safety inspections/installation and more.
If you are interested in a program, contact Sherrie L. Leeka at firstname.lastname@example.org or 303-658-4536, or see the fire department pages of the city website.
