City will not pursue a citywide contract for trash and recycling services
(May 09, 2017)
The City of Westminster will not pursue a citywide contract for trash and recycling services.
That direction came after a May 8 meeting where Westminster City Council evaluated the latest proposal for a contract that would provide trash and recycling services at a standard price.
Over the past several months the city has been exploring ways to develop a citywide trash hauling program that would meet multiple goals related to increasing recycling opportunities and reducing the trash sent to landfills, reducing the wear on city streets and improving cost equity throughout the city.
As part of the process, city staff was able to engage in positive, productive talks with local trash and recycling business partners. The city thanks those partners for their willingness to bring their expertise and experience to the process.
The city also thanks the hundreds of citizens who engaged on this issue to provide feedback and suggestions throughout a deliberate and inclusive
The City of Westminster takes seriously its commitment to environmental stewardship and remains committed to its Strategic Plan goal of being a “Beautiful, desirable, safe and environmentally responsible city.”
