So you want to run for City Council? Participate in the Candidate Forum
(May 04, 2017)
This November, Westminster residents will vote for the offices of Mayor and three City Councillors. If you are interested in running for office, the city clerk will host a Candidate Forum on Tuesday, May 30, 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 4800 W. 92nd Ave.*
The Candidate Forum is an informal event for potential Mayoral or City Council candidates who are interested in running for office in the 2017 November election cycle.
Topics covered will include everything from the council/manager government structure to legal requirements for running for office in the City of Westminster.
Important information will be provided on key election dates, campaign finance requirements, and candidate responsibilities and duties.
A short “In Real Life” session will be led by current City Council members (not on the upcoming ballot) to tell potential candidates what it’s really like to run for office and get elected, and what the long-term time commitment to weekly meetings, study sessions and community events really entails.
There will be an opportunity for an open Q&A with all members of the City Council and staff to close out the event.
If you’re thinking about throwing your hat in the ring this fall, come get all the information you’ll need to be a well-informed candidate at the Candidate Forum!
