Westminster takes third in healthiest employer awards
(Jul 24, 2014)
The City of Westminster placed third in its category for the 2014 Metro Denver Healthiest Employers awards, sponsored by the Denver Business Journal.
DaVita took first place honors in the category for 950-plus employees. Other finalists in this category were RK Mechanical, TeleTech and TerumoBCT. Awards were announced July 23 at a luncheon in Denver.
Westminster was the only public-sector employer selected as a finalist in the 2014 awards.
Now in its fourth year, the awards recognize companies that have made a commitment to making wellness a reality for their employees. More information on the Business Journal website.
While accepting the third place honor, Westminster City Manager Brent McFall emphasized the city’s longtime commitment to wellness for employees. The city has been a leader in wellness since 1985 when it first began its program. He also noted that more than 80 percent of city employees participate in the city wellness program.
Westminster was also recently a finalist for the Cigna Well-Being Award, which honors employers in the Rocky Mountain region for their commitment to creating a culture of health through their wellness program.
