Change your clocks, change your batteries
(Mar 06, 2014)
It’s that time of year again to “spring forward.” With the time change this weekend, Sunday, March 9, Westminster Fire Department reminds you to change batteries for fire alarms and carbon monoxide alarms.
It’s best to replace batteries in fire alarms and carbon monoxide alarms twice a year, so when you change your clocks, it’s a good reminder to also change your batteries.
Also, it’s important to remember that fire alarms should be replaced every 10 years and carbon monoxide alarms replaced every five years (or sooner if they are not operating properly).
Test your alarms monthly.
The fire department sees proof everyday – these alarms save lives.
