America Recycles Day is Nov. 15

(Nov 13, 2013)

America Recycles Day is a nationwide effort to focus on recycling. Celebrate with us by signing up for recycling at your curb.

In Westminster, trash collectors are licensed and required to offer curbside recycling to all businesses and residents.

A recent survey of haulers found that for an average of 10 cents per day, you can have the convenience of recycling at your curb. Call your trash collector today to begin recycling at your curb.

The city’s Environmental Advisory Board and community stakeholders, including trash collectors, homeowners associations, businesses and residents, spent two years studying recycling in Westminster and found that to improve recycling, three things must be accomplished:

  • the trash collection section of the Westminster Municipal Code needs to be improved;
  •  the city needs to improve the recycling drop-off program; and
  • the city needs to educate residents on how to recycle in the community.

All three of these actions are currently being implemented.

The “Westminster Proud We Recycle!” campaign is focused on educating residents about recycling options in Westminster.

Visit Westminster's webiste for more information on recycling and the city’s sustainability efforts.
