Park lands adopted to open space
(Oct 31, 2013)
On Oct. 28, Westminster City Council approved the adoption of 37 acres of park land to open space.
The city code allows council to approve this type of change for management and maintenance purposes per Chapter XIII.
The list that was approved includes properties that are natural in character and meet the criteria for open space preservation and management.
The list includes areas from eight park properties throughout the city.
The areas that will be considered open space are currently unirrigated and used for passive purposes rather than active uses.
Including these 37 acres, the city has currently preserved more 3,050 acres of open space throughout the city.
