City purchases property along Big Dry Creek for open space
(Oct 24, 2013)
The City of Westminster recently purchased a 9.9-acre property located south of Big Dry Creek on the southeast corner of 112th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard for open space.
This acquisition will preserve the floodplain and upland areas for wildlife habitat. It will also preserve existing wetlands as well as a beautiful riparian corridor with huge Cottonwood trees along Cotton Creek.
This purchase widens the buffer around Big Dry Creek from the current width of approximately 150 feet to 800 feet wide.
The city received a generous grant from the Adams County Open Space Program that assisted with the acquisition of this property.
