Mayoral and city councillor candidate forum on city website and Channel 8
(Oct 16, 2013)
The Westminster mayoral and city councillor candidate forum held on Oct. 10 is posted on the city’s website, airing on the city’s YouTube channel and is available for viewing on Westminster’s Municipal Channel 8, seven days a week at 9 a.m., noon, 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.
There are three candidates for mayor: Herb Atchison, Bob Briggs and Mary Lindsey.
There are eight candidates to fill three seats on city council: Bruce Baker, Debbie Bergamo, David DeMott, Alberto Garcia, C. Michael Litzau, Emma Pinter, A.J. Elserougi and Suzanne Ramirez.
All municipal elections are nonpartisan, and candidates for municipal office are elected at large.
For city councillor, the three candidates receiving the highest number of votes will be elected to four-year terms.
For mayor, the candidate receiving the highest number of votes that equals at least 40 percent of the total votes cast will be elected. Should a candidate for mayor fail to receive 40 percent of the total votes cast, a run-off election will be conducted with the two highest vote getters. The candidate receiving the highest number of votes will be elected to a four-year term of office.
