Land use plan getting an update
(Jun 20, 2013)
The Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) update is well underway. The first round of public outreach and visioning was concluded late last year, which included an extensive round of stakeholder interviews and input from Westminster City Council and the Planning Commission.
Two key documents that resulted from this process include the Visioning and Outreach Summary and the Guiding Principles. Both documents can be found on the project website.
Two citywide analyses were also conducted as part of the first phase of the CLUP update: Existing Conditions and a Citywide Economic Market Assessment. These analyses provide a framework of information for development of a citywide Concept Plan. They provide a holistic “snapshot” of where the city is today, in terms of existing development, demographics, transportation, parks and recreation, and city services and utilities. The Market Assessment provides an overview of market and demographic trends that may impact how the city will evolve over the next 20 years.
The next step in the planning process is the development of a citywide Concept Plan. The Concept Plan will reflect key policy decisions for land use and economic development, transportation, parks and recreation, and city utilities.
The framework established by the Concept Plan will be evaluated in terms of its impacts to the city’s quality of life, fiscal health and infrastructure.
This summer, the Concept Plan and these findings will be presented to the public, Planning Commission and City Council.
WestyCOnnect and the project website will continue to be venues for additional community input.
