Adams County seeks public comment on new commissioner districts
(May 02, 2013)
As Adams County prepares to increase from three to five commissioners in 2014, a public meeting will be held from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, at Westminster City Hall, 4800 W. 92nd Ave. to gather public comment regarding three redistricting options.
After considering the public’s input, the final map of the five new commissioner districts will be selected by the Board of Commissioners on June 26.
Three commissioner seats will be up for election/reelection in 2014.
One seat will be for a two-year term (instead of the customary four-year term) in order to stagger the terms for the five seats (as required by Colorado law).
The current board will decide which district will receive the seat with the initial two-year term at the June 26 public hearing.
In 2016, three of the commissioner seats will be up for election/reelection—one of which will be for the seat with the initial two-year term.
