Free home safety program offered
(May 16, 2013)
Residents in Westminster that are 60 and up or who have a disability are eligible for a free home safety audit.
The Westminster Fire Department offers these free audits quarterly. Appointments are currently being taken for Saturday, May 18.
A firefighter and volunteer visit the home, do a thorough safety check for hazards, provide free items and services, and leave the resident with suggestions on other safety improvements.
The team will test fire and carbon monoxide alarms and replace batteries or provide new alarms if needed; inspect electrical outlets and provide power strips if needed; look for fall/trip hazards; and provide night lights if needed.
Contact Public Education Officer Sherrie Leeka, 303-658-4536 or firstname.lastname@example.org, to schedule an appointment.
