Street safety class offered for you and your child
(Feb 21, 2013)
You and your child (age 8 and older) will learn the ins-and-outs of being “street smart” as well as specific defense techniques against an aggressor from 9-11 a.m. on Saturdays, March 2 or April 13, at West View Recreation Center,10747 W. 108th Ave.
The street smart portion of the class provides common sense steps to be safe on the street (using intuition to evaluate situations and avoid looking like a victim). The ultimate goal of this portion is to learn how to avoid potentially bad situations without ever needing to use self defense.
In the self defense portion of the class, learn take-downs, pressure point control tactics, selected Krav Maga techniques and general defense against weapons. Instruction on where to hit will be included with actual hitting practice using shields and targets.
This class is designed for parent and child participants. Children must have an adult train with them for the entire class. Adults will learn the techniques and practice with their children on a continual basis to maintain a high level of proficiency.
Participants should wear loose fit clothing that might get torn.
Class instructors bring more than 60 years of self-defense experience to the class.
Fee: $12 resident/per participant and $15 non-resident/per participant.
