Volunteers in Probation
Purpose/Responsibilities:
- To enforce court orders and provide mentoring relationships (volunteers do not do "social" type activities with the clients).
- Monitor probationers' compliance with the terms and conditions imposed by the court by meeting with probationers twice per month at the court or a public place.
- Write and turn in a brief report once a month.
- Attend monthly probation court hearings.
- Monthly training.
- Phone contact with the probation volunteer coordinator once a month.
- Minimum of 6 to 10 hours per month for at least one year. Must be 21 years of age.

Upcoming Training
Volunteer training is provided twice per year -- once in the spring and once in the fall. Volunteers should plan on the following hours for each training:
All day new VIP training, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday
School Issues, 6-8 p.m., Wednesday
Crisis Intervention, 6-8 p.m., Wednesday
Drug Recognition, 6-8 p.m., Wednesday
Night Court Observation & Staffing, 6-8:30 p.m., Wednesday
