Graffiti Removal
The Graffiti Removal Program is unique as it is accomplished by one full-time employee and subsidized with help from community service recipients assigned by the city Municipal Court and community volunteers. At the present time, the program only allows eradication of graffiti on city facilities and other publicly-owned facilities, such as the noise barrier fences along U.S. 36 that are located within the city limits. By utilizing community service recipients, it minimizes the costs to the taxpayer and allows for a minimal response time.
The program is targeted at removing graffiti from city facilities only. City parks, the Promenade and the fence along the Boulder turnpike have been hardest hit by taggers.
Graffiti eradication on private property is the responsibility of the property owner. Complaints on graffiti received in the Code Enforcement Office are handled as a public nuisances. Routinely, code enforcement officers responding to a complaint issue a courtesy notice to the property owner requesting that the graffiti be removed within seven days.

Graffiti Attracts More Graffiti
Graffiti vandalism in your neighborhood needs to be removed as quickly as possible. The longer graffiti is allowed to stay on property, the greater the negative message to your neighbors or customers and employees. Prompt and consistent action will retain property values and discourage further vandalism.
