Savory Farm Open Space Rehabilitation Project
This 8.16-acre site, adjacent to Mushroom Pond Open Space, was acquired by the city in 2010 with grant assistance from Adams County Open Space.
To integrate this previously developed site into the city’s permanent open space network and make the property available and enjoyable for public uses such as walking, running, bicycling, birdwatching and more, it will be restored to the quality of the city’s other open space properties.
The planned enhancements include redistributing the existing large soil stockpile to create more natural-appearing hills; adding trails, signage and a small trailhead parking area; and revegetating the site with native grasses once construction is complete. The city worked hard to secure additional grant funding from Adams County Open Space to make this restoration project possible.
In the coming months you will see earth-moving equipment, concrete and asphalt trucks, and minor traffic control measures on Federal Boulevard to implement this open space rehabilitation project. Normal working hours will be 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
