Niver Canal Open Space

Independence Street to Oakhurst Park.

This 16.1 acre open space preserves an open space corridor along the abandoned Niver Canal. The concrete Niver Canal Trail traverses the area which is mostly a grassy meadow. The mountain views from the trail are quite nice. The trail extends west of Independence Street and connects to the trail system in the Standley Lake Regional Park. This property was acquired in 1998 and adopted into the Open Space Program by the city in 2001.
