Loon Lake Open Space
South of 100th Avenue at Countryside Drive, and south of the Wayne Carle Middle School.
The city owns 9.3 acres of open space, which includes Loon Lake and the surrounding shoreline. A part of the north shoreline is privately owned. Loon Lake is a hidden gem in Westminster and accessed from either the Big Dry Creek Trail in Standley Lake Regional Park or the parking lot on the east side of Wayne Carle Middle School.
The best view of the lake is from the Big Dry Creek Trail. Access to the south side of the lake is from an informal “social” trail. The Loon Lake Trail climbs a hill on the north side of the lake which affords nice lake views. Loon Lake is 10.1 acres in size. This open space was assembled through different acquisitions in 2000 and 2010.
