Farmers’ High Line Canal Open Space
The Farmers' High Line Canal Open Space with 119 acres of land follows most of the path of the Farmers' High Line Canal as it winds through the city with a trail corridor.
Location – Northeast of the Westglenn metropolitan district park along the Allen Ditch Trail.
This open space is relatively hidden from view and therefore is little known and little visited. The Farmers’ High Line Canal and the Allen Ditch flow across this property. In fact, the gate which diverts water from the Farmers’ High Line Canal to create the Allen Ditch is located on the property, south of the BNSF Railroad. The Allen Ditch Trail passes through the area. Beautiful, huge cottonwood trees and willow trees line both ditches.
The Farmers’ High Line Canal passes under the BNSF Railroad via a syphon which forces the water to go down under the railroad then back to the surface.
