Jim Baker Sculpture

Location: Jim Baker Park, on the west side of Lowell Boulevard at about 61st Avenue.
Artist: Steve Boyce, Arvada, Colorado.
Year Installed: 1996.
How Acquired: Funded by the City of Westminster, Westminster Historical Society, Adams County Cultural Commission and the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District.
Comments: The plaque at the site states:

"Jim Baker – The forgotten man born December 19, 1818 near Savery, Wyoming.  Jim Baker homesteaded in 1859 in Adams County at 52nd Avenue and Tennyson Street.  Jim Baker and his Native American wives ran a general store and operated a ferry and later a toll bridge across Clear Creek on the Denver-Boulder Wagon Trail.  Jim Baker – Trapper, Guide, Army Scout, Businessman and Pioneer."
