Artist: Brian P. Hanlon, Toms River, New Jersey
Year Installed: 2012
How Acquired: This sculpture was donated to the city by the Westminster Public Safety Recognition Foundation. This foundation is a nonprofit 501(c) 3 organization founded in 2002 comprised of community leaders and city staff whose goal is to recognize acts of bravery and outstanding service in the name of public safety. The artwork and surrounding plaza were funded by generous donations and contributors from individuals, families, businesses and grants, including one from the Adams County Open Space Program.
Comments: “Teamwork” consists of two specially commissioned bronze figures and a bronze mural depicting Westminster-specific police and fire personnel and images. The bronze figures are shown wearing Westminster clothing and gear. The pieces are set on granite in a paver walkway surrounded by flowering gardens. The two bronze figures are slightly larger than life-size (about 7 feet tall) and depict a police officer and fire fighter (the models are City of Westminster employees). The bronze mural/relief wall is a collage of all of the functions of public safety -firefighters, police officers, dispatchers, judges, municipal court, ambulances, SWAT, tech team, K-9, bike patrol, etc.
