Promenade Light Towers and Arapahoe Tile Mosaic
Location: West side of Westin Hotel, Westminster Promenade, north of 104th Avenue on Westminster Boulevard.
Artist: Communication Arts, Boulder, Colorado.
Year Installed: 2000.
How Acquired: Funded by the City of Westminster.
Comments: The City of Westminster hired Communication Arts to design eight glass block light towers to illuminate the plaza on the west side of the Westin Hotel. The 30-foot-tall, eight-sided light towers are internally lighted and capped with grass shaped metal. The base of each tower contains a history panel describing some aspect of Westminster’s history or pre-history. The towers form a circle, within which is a 30-foot tile mosaic of Arapahoe Native American designs.
