80th Avenue Bridge over U.S. 36
Completed in 2011, the 80th Avenue Bridge over U.S. 36 continues the general design theme of the 92nd Avenue and Westminster Boulevard bridges over U.S. 36.
The bridge is situated on a prominent point on the crest of a hill along U.S. 36. As a result, the bridge is very visible along U.S. 36. The bridge is equally striking when viewed along 80th Avenue. Plus, the views from the bridge to downtown Denver and the mountains are breathtaking.
The bridge was completed in Westminster’s Centennial Year of 2011, 100 years since incorporation. A plaque on the bridge commemorates the 100-year anniversary.
The bridge was primarily funded by the Colorado Department of Transportation but the City of Westminster funded the upgraded design features. The bridge was designed by CH2M Hill and Martin/Martin along with the city’s design consultants Downing, Thorpe and James.
