144th Avenue Bridge over I-25
The design of the 144th Avenue Bridge over I-25 is identical to its brother at 136th Avenue. The 144th Avenue Bridge was completed in 2007 as a joint project by the cities of Westminster and Thornton. There is also an attractive vehicular/pedestrian underpass under 144th Avenue just west of I-25.
The design features arched metal railings on the bridge deck with stone-clad pilasters topped with lighted orbs. The bridge is accentuated by a series of stone retaining walls and landscaping.
The bridge was designed by Felsburg, Holt & Ullevig and Frank Miltenberger, landscape architect. The two cities paid for the bridge construction with no state or federal funding.
