In 2009, Westminster City Council approved a photovoltaic solar power purchase agreement pilot program. The agreement allows Main Street Power to use city facilities as hosts for its photovoltaic solar systems.
Detailed information on the contract
During the fall of 2009, Simple Solar installed the solar power panels at City Park Recreation Center, West View Recreation Center, Municipal Service Center and the Public Safety Center.
The systems, providing 270 KW, became operational in January 2010. The ecological benefits of this pilot program include greenhouse gas reduction by hosting this renewable solar energy source. In addition, the city locks in a guaranteed electricity rate over the next five years.
