England Water Treatment Facility Decommissioning Project

During the months of May through September, the City of Westminster will be demolishing the England Water Treatment Facility.  This is the City’s oldest water treatment facility and it has been out of service for several years because regulations have surpassed the technologies used at the time the England Water Treatment Facility was originally designed and constructed.

The City awarded the demolition contract to American Demolition, a reputable demolition contractor in the industry.  The contractor will be restricted to working Mondays – Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., the majority of which will be on weekdays.  As with any demolition project, noise and dust will be generated as the water treatment facility buildings and structures are demolished. However, the contractor is being required to minimize these disruptions using spray water to limit the spread of the dust, minimizing stock piles and stock pile heights, and limiting truck traffic to business hours. Most construction traffic will occur on the east side of the property and on Elk Drive. In addition to building demolition, some work will be required within Elk Drive to demolish abandoned utility connections. Temporary lane closures and traffic control will be required for a short duration.

The demolition work will not be interrupting your water or sewer services. In addition, we are pleased to inform you that following demolition, the area will be graded and restored to aesthetic native grasses.

The safety of the motoring, pedestrian, biking public and contractor crews will be of utmost importance. Your assistance in abiding by all construction related signs is greatly appreciated. Should you observe an emergency situation, please call 911.  For general questions, concerns or comments, please contact City Project Manager Stephanie Bleiker at 303-658-2174 or via email at sbleiker@cityofwestminster.us
