1) Why are you the most qualified person for this office? Having served six years on the Westminster Planning Commission, I have first-hand knowledge of the development occurring in the city. This has also provided a strong understanding of the process and language of development. The 15 years I served on the Arvada Economic Development Association Board afforded me the opportunity to learn about economic development principles. Almost three decades of experience on various boards - frequently as chairman - taught me the dynamics of working with diverse points of view and personalities.

2) What is the most important issue facing Westminster and how will you address it? The redevelopment of the former Westminster Mall is the most important issue facing Westminster. Since there will be multiple developers of the site it will be critical that the City Council closely oversee the process to assure that the vision of a vibrant hub of retail, office and commercial businesses, as well as an area where residents will want to call home, becomes a reality.

3) What do you think the city does well and where do you see room for improvement? The city’s efforts in establishing and maintaining open space is second to none. The trail system is well maintained and even “patrolled” by volunteers to assure a positive experience for those utilizing it. It is critical that the city have a positive image with all types of developers: commercial, residential, multi-unit residential and retail.

4) What is your favorite thing about living in Westminster?  I enjoy regularly riding the trail system, from Standley Lake to the eastern edge of the city. The city is conveniently located - just minutes from major urban amenities and only a short drive from Colorado’s majestic mountains.
