Every business operating in a residential area within the City of Westminster must register and obtain a Home Occupation/Sales and Use Tax License. For specific license requirements, refer to Title V, Chapters 3 and 4 of the Westminster Municipal Code. There is no fee for this license.
In order to register, complete the Business Registration form found below. A Home Occupation Supplemental Registration is also required. To improve legibility, the City has enabled these forms to be completed using the Adobe Reader. This product can be downloaded at no charge from the Adobe website. Registrants choosing not to complete the form using Adobe Reader must typewrite the form. Illegible forms will be returned without processing.
Once complete, the registration must be printed, signed, and submitted to the City Clerk in person, by mail, by fax to (303) 706-3924 or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note that City Hall offices are open extended hours Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. City Hall is closed on Fridays. Retain a photocopy of the completed registration for your records.
Registrations are reviewed by a variety of city departments to ensure compliance with building, land use, taxation, and other laws and regulations. This process takes approximately three to four weeks. It is unlawful for any person to engage in business in the city without first obtaining the appropriate licenses. Submit the registration with sufficient time for review and approval prior to the start of business. Also, review the registration for legibility, errors and omissions which may also delay the approval process.
