Notice to electrical contractors

Adoption and enforcement of 2008 National Electric Code

On May 19, 2008, the 2008 edition of the National Electrical Code was adopted by the Colorado State Electrical Board. The 2008 NEC will become the minimum standard for the State of Colorado effective Aug. 1, 2008. This code will be the standard used by all state electrical inspectors for permits issued on or after Aug. 1, 2008.

On Aug. 1, 2008, the board's examination vendor, Pearson VUE, will begin testing on the 2008 NEC.

It is important to note that while the City of Westminster will not be formally adopting the 2008 NEC until 2009, the city will begin enforcing the 2008 NEC for all permits issued on or after Aug. 1, 2008.
