Permit fees increasing September 1

The City of Westminster will be increasing the permit fee for 11 over-the-counter permits effective Sept. 1, 2010. View the new rates (PDF, 20 kb)

Due to staff constraints, no walkthroughs will be conducted on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010.

The Building Division issues permits for all new construction within Westminster. This involves the detailed examination of building plans, calculations and specifications for compliance with building, plumbing, mechanical and electrical codes, as well as field inspections of all aspects of construction and its various component parts and systems.

Please be advised that cash or check are the only accepted methods of payment for building permits.

New schedule for building permit processing, plan review and inspection

Extended hours and Friday closure

Beginning Monday, Aug. 2, Westminster City Hall extended its regular business hours Monday through Thursday and is now closed Friday.

Business hours for City Hall (including building permit processing, permit plan review and inspections) begin at 7 a.m. and extend to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday. To accommodate the extended hours, City Hall is closed on Fridays.

Building Division customers should note the following changes:

  • Building Division front office will be open from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. for permit intake and processing. Please note that the front office does not close for lunch.
  • Inspection requests for same-day inspections must be made to the inspection request line prior to 6 a.m.
  • Building and electrical inspectors will be in the office to answer questions from 7-8 a.m. and 5-6 p.m. The remainder of the time inspectors will be in the field conducting inspections.
  • Residential walk through plan check will continue to be held on Mondays and Thursdays, and will benefit from an additional hour of service each day. Hours will be Monday from 1-5 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon. This service will continue to be operated on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • Building Division staff meets every Wednesday from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and is not be available during this time.

Attention homeowners - rebates available to insulate and seal

Properly insulating and sealing a home can help reduce monthly energy bills and make your home more comfortable. Xcel Energy has opened its "Insulate Colorado" Homeowner Rebate Program for its residential gas customers who make certain energy efficient improvements to their homes. Installation of insulation must occur between 1/1/2009 and 12/31/2010. Please refer to the Xcel Energy Homeowner Rebate Form (PDF, 104 kb) for other program requirements
