First, the city uses encrypted sessions identified as those where the address (URL) begins with HTTPS. The city automatically provides web users with encrypted sessions whenever confidential personal information is requested during a web session. This encrypted session provides a high level of data security and confidentiality in transmitting data. Second, confidential information is stored on a secure server, accessible only for the purpose of managing computer resources and transacting the requested service.
For your security, do not send confidential information, such as credit card numbers or social security numbers within an e-mail message. E-mail received by the city may be forwarded to another party, government agency or individual. Certain e-mail may constitute a public record and is subject to disclosure under state law. Communication made through e-mail or any other computer messaging system shall in no way be deemed to constitute legal notice to the city or any of its agencies, officers, employees, agents or representatives with respect to any existing or potential claim or cause of action.
